Prosecutor Shayla Favor did not create this mess, she inherited it.
The chaos in Franklin County began under the last prosecutor, whose term was an unmitigated disaster. Crime skyrocketed to unprecedented levels, and instead of focusing on public safety, he fulfilled a political campaign promise by importing outside, carpet-bagging special prosecutors on four separate occasions to indict police officers for line-of-duty shootings.
Here’s the record of that reckless experiment:
- Case 1: Ended in a mistrial.
- Case 2: A conviction now on appeal because prosecutors failed to provide exculpatory evidence, a fundamental violation of constitutional duty.
- Case 3: Now underway, involving Officer Connor Grubb, where the State’s own witness testified that Officer Grubb had no other option but to use deadly force.
This isn’t justice. It’s politics at the expense of public safety.
